Halibel is the only current female Espada. She has dark skin, green eyes, spiky blonde hair with several braided locks, and wears an oddly-cut variation of the arrancar jacket that bares a good portion of her breasts.Halibel carries her zanpakuto on her back; the sword itself is notably broad and short compared to others and has a western-style guard. The remnants of her hollow mask are partially covered by her collar, but it is clear that she at least has pieces of mask on both sides of her cheeks.

Grimmjow has light blue hair and eyes.Grimmjow's attire consists of a white hakama and a black sash; his white jacket is ragged with an upturned collar. The inner lining is black, the sleeves are rolled up, and Grimmjow wears it open, leaving his chest revealed. The remains of his hollow mask consist of the right jawbone, and his hollow hole has moved to his abdomen.He also has conflicts with Ulquiorra Schiffer, the 4th Espada, usually because Ulquiorra interrupts his battles or doesn't act on his own impulses. He has also developed a grudge against Kurosaki Ichigo for wounding him during their first and second fights, and is eager to return the favor. He purposefully kept the large scar on his chest from their first battle as a reminder of this.

Kusajishi Yachiru is child-like in most respects, as she is small, cheerful, energetic, and carefree most of the time. She is often seen latched onto the back of her captain, Zaraki Kepanchi, just over his right shoulder, and is somewhat territorial about this position. She is surprisingly intimidating at times, especially when annoyed. Kusajishi Yachiru is also the president of the Soul Reaper Women's Association

He became the youngest ever to reach captain rank.Hitsugaya Toushiro is very short with size comparable to Kuchiki Rukia. He also has white hair (which tends to draw attention in the human world) and emerald eyes, which evokes his ability of controlling ice and water. He wears standard captain's clothing, save for a green sash around his shoulders, and sometimes walks around in his tabi.

Inoue Orihime has long orange-brown hair which she wears with the bangs behind her ears and hairpins. She does not remove her hairpins, except to sleep.Her large breasts are occasionally made the subject of jokes in the series. She also has an amazingly hard head, which has injured Uryu, Chad, and Ichigo.

Ishida Uryu is a black-haired, bespectacled teenager of average height. At school, Uryu wears the school uniform along with a tie, while outside he dons white Quincy clothes with blue stripes representing the Quincy cross.Ishida Uryu is generally shy and quiet, but tries harder to act cool when other people are around.He even keeps a spare to that effect. In addition, he also has a tendency to say things with characteristic drama.

Ironically, when he was younger, he was quick to anger and very hotheaded, as noted by his grandfather

Kuchiki Rukia is a Shinigami in the 13th Division under Ukitake Jushiro. Shortly after meeting Kurosaki Ichigo, who can see supernatural phenomena such as Shinigami, she is forced to give him her powers in order to fulfill her duties as a Shinigami.Kuchiki Rukia is a proud indivdual, taking advantage to appear as high and mighty when she is more knowledgable of something than another person; among Ichigo and friends, this is often having to do with Spirits, while with Abarai Renji, it is human culture. Despite this attitude, she is surprisingly naive to many things, such as how to put a straw in a juice box.

Kyoraku Shunsui is a laid back and flamboyant man, evident in his style of dress and general attitude. He wears a straw hat and a pink flowered haori over his captain's uniform. Although his haori and obi sash are cheap, his pinwheel hairpin is very expensive.In his off time, he can be seen drinking sake and napping. Other times, he likes to chase after women, particularly his vice-captain's,Ise Nanao.

She is a very serious and pragmatic person, which is at odds with her captain's silly antics, but like all vice-captain, she is extremely respectful of her captain and follows his instructions without hesitation. She is almost always seen carrying a heavy book. Ise Nanao is often accosted by her captain, whose teasing takes various forms. Nanao's usual reaction is to scold him or hit him with something, usually a fan. When she is particularly annoyed she takes off her glasses. Though her face has never been seen while doing so, this act is apparently quite frightening, as most people who see it are reduced to gibbering wrecks just by witnessing it.

Gin's most distinguishing characteristic is his expression; with his slitted eyes and ever-present grin, his face looks that of a fox. Ichigo derisively nicknames him "fox-face" in their first meeting because of this. He also has unusual silver hair.Gin's constant happy facade tends to have the opposite effect on those he meets, making them instantly distrust him. His use of sarcasm only further encourages this, especially in those who have known him for a long time.
